Make your computer speak text aloud
For those who struggle to read, with mild to moderate
visual impairment, or for those learning English/Arabic, DHA website is now easier to understand and
comprehend by using built-in text-to-speech feature.
How to do this?
Click on
Accessibility at the top menu and click on ‘Read Speaker’ icon and the text will be read out to you.
I can't see very well
Some people find certain text and background colour combinations difficult to read,
while others prefer to always have a specific colour, such as white text on a black
background.
Change your text size
You can increase or decrease the text size by clicking
on Accessibility in the top menu and then on the (A) symbol.
Change Contrast
If you find difficulty in reading certain texts in the given background
colour combinations, you can change the background colours by clicking on Accessibility in the top menu
and then on Contrast Switch.
Magnify your screen
You can use the zoom option from your
browser to enlarge the page.
I find words difficult
Check your spellings in application
Use the spell-checker and thesaurus in programmes such as
Microsoft Word and OpenOffice.org Writer.
Change your text size

I find keyboard hard to use

Use voice recognition to search
If you are a slow typist, or have difficulty or discomfort
when using a keyboard,we have a speech-to-text software that allows you to enter text and interact with
your computer by talking to it. Some people who have difficulty with words - with conditions such as
dyslexia - can also find it helpful.
How to do this?
Click on Search icon at the right
hand side of the screen and click on microphone icon. You can speak your search criteria on the
microphone and the search results will appear.
Use virtual keyboard instead of an actual
keyboard
For those who struggle to use the real keyboard can use virtual keyboard to type
the text. Just click on the text box and you will see a keyboard icon. Click on the keyboard icon and
you will get a virtual keyboard on screen to use.
