Dubai Health Authority Launches Professional Diploma Programme for Health Facility Inspectors in Collaboration with Sharjah University

Dubai, UAE, November 6, 2024: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced today the launch of a Professional Diploma Programme for Health Facility Inspectors in Dubai, in collaboration with Sharjah University. This initiative is part of the DHA's ongoing efforts to enhance education, training, and scientific knowledge among its staff, enabling them to carry out their duties in line with global best practices in the health sector.
The programme, which spans ten months, aims to strengthen the professional competencies of DHA employees in the fields of inspection and regulation of health facilities. It will equip participants with the necessary scientific knowledge, skills, and experience to perform their job functions with high efficiency, professionalism, and ethics, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of healthcare service quality provided to the community.
Dr. Marwan Al Mulla, CEO of the Health Regulation Sector at Dubai Health Authority (DHA), emphasised the significance of the newly launched Professional Diploma Programme, which aligns with the authority's vision represented by its Medical Education Department. He reiterated the DHA's keen interest in investing in its human resources through the introduction of specialised professional programmes and diplomas in collaboration with educational institutions in the UAE. This initiative is aimed at supporting and developing the health sector while ensuring the sustainability of improvement processes. The goal is to keep pace with global developments and provide safe health services to the community according to the highest standards of quality and excellence.
Dr. Al Mulla discussed the positive outcomes of this professional programme and its effective role in enhancing the capabilities of health facility inspectors. He noted that the programme will empower inspectors to carry out their tasks with high efficiency and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to keep up with the increasing number of health facilities in the emirate. This initiative will also help them adapt to changes and maintain flexibility in health policies and regulations, contributing to the sustainability and achievement of health security for the community, ultimately leading to a "Healthier and Happier Society."
He praised the strategic partnership and the leading role that Sharjah University plays in the scientific and knowledge domains, acknowledging its efforts in preparing and designing the programme to meet the needs of DHA staff involved in health facility regulation and inspection across the emirate.
Dr. Wadeia Mohammad Sharif, Director of the Medical Education and Research Department at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), underlined the significance of the newly launched Professional Diploma Programme. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the DHA to enhance community health and safety, as well as the quality of healthcare services provided to residents. The programme ensures that health facilities in the emirate comply with global standards, protocols, and practices.
Dr. Wadeia highlighted that the diploma programme focuses on several key topics related to health and environmental inspection, occupational health and safety, legal regulations, disaster management, and health crises. Additionally, the curriculum covers biostatistics, pharmaceutical control, professional ethics, communication skills, health education, document examination, and the preparation of inspection reports. The programme also addresses pathogenic microorganisms and infectious diseases.
Faris Al Mazmi, Director of the Clinical Audit and Control Department at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), highlighted the authority's strong commitment to enhancing the professional competencies of its staff, including health inspectors who play a vital role in monitoring the quality of services provided by various health facilities in the emirate.
Al Mazmi stated that the launch of this programme in collaboration with Sharjah University represents a significant step in supporting the DHA's strategy for continuous education and training, keeping pace with global developments in the medical field. He pointed out the multiple topics and aspects the programme focuses on, which actively contribute to enhancing inspectors' capabilities to address evolving challenges in health inspection amidst the increasing investment in health facilities within the emirate.
