About Medical Internship:
In line with Dubai Health Authority’s strategy to support all staff members working in the health sector in the country and to foster and promote continuous medical education as well as to encourage medical professionals to pursue the highest educational and professional qualifications, DHA provides graduates of locally and internationally recognised Medical Schools, a one-year internship training referred to as the “Internship Year Program”.
It is a practical training year and is considered a turning point from the academic training that students undergo in their medical colleges to the practical application of the acquired knowledge and skills to practice medicine in hospitals and clinics under the supervision of consultants from various departments in hospitals.
Training during the internship year continually enhances these skills to ensure improvement and continuity of patient care.
Registration times and duration of training for the internship program
The registration for the Medical Education and Scientific Research Internship Programs for internship in General Medicine will be announced in due course on the DHA website. Registration can only be done during the period announced.
Graduates of internationally recognised colleges from different nationalities are accepted for registration, and no application from any doctor that exceeds two years from the date of passing the final exams is accepted.
The duration of training for internship at the Dubai Health Authority is one year, distributed as follows:
- * Medical departments six months (two months of general medicine, one month of Paediatrics, one month of Psychiatry, one month in Primary Health Care and one month of electives).
- * Surgical departments for six months (two months for general surgery, two months for Obstetrics and Gynaecology/ one month for Accident and Emergency and one month for electives).
The internship doctor works departments under the supervision of the responsible consultants in each department.
The hospital provides no accommodation and lodging arrangements for internship students enrolled in this training year.
Applications for acceptance to the internship scheme
The following registration steps must be adhered to only within the specified registration period:
- 1. Visit the website www.dha.gov.ae
- 2. Click on log in
- 3. Login/register in DHA e-service portal
- 4. Select residency and internship programs
- 5. Click on registration management
- 6. Select internship
- 7. Fill the needed information, attach the documents and submit the application
- 8. Proceed for payment
- 9. Get the reference number for your record
The applicant should ensure the following required documents are ready for registration period:
- 1. If the degree certificate still needs to be available, a 'To whom it may concern' letter confirming graduation, and the latest transcript stamped by the medical college, can be submitted. Additionally, the applicant must include a promise letter to offer the certification before starting the hospital internship program, at least one month before the DHA medical internship training year's commencement date. The certificate has to be attested (stamped) by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Embassy of UAE where the applicant studied (If the applicant no longer resides in the country where the applicant studied, the applicant can reach the Embassy in that country and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of UAE (in UAE).
- 2. Passport copy for the applicant (a copy of Kholasat Al Qayd or Marsoom for UAE nationals).
- 3. English language Proficiency Certificate (TOEFL 550 or above / IELTS Academic = 6 or above/ OET= 300 (C+)).
- 4. Aspirants with a degree granted outside the UAE, Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) – General with Grade Average evaluation are required to evaluate the transcripts and have a standard GPA (http://www.ece.org) and for UAE degree to provide final GPA.
- 5. A fee of AED 220 for processing the application.
- 2. The applicant will be requested to provide the following during the registration:
- a. GPA step 1: (Request the college to keep it ready) we follow grading towards 3 and 4 as higher. If the applicant college is the opposite system. Eg: 1 is higher, then the applicant should not enter the GPA.(The applicant should skip this step and enter the overall marks on 100 in the next step or if an applicant can get an official document that clearly states the conversion of the GPA into 4 to be higher, then this can be entered under the GPA step along with uploading the college document stating this.)
- b. If the GPA is not available or it's not 4 GPA (5 GPA is not accepted) skip step 1 and go to next step 2 where you can provide your overall score (over 100).
- c. If both step 1 and 2 not available, the applicant will have an option to mention his/her final marks of Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics and Obst/Gyn and the applicant can during registration skip the 1st step (GPA) and 2nd step (overall mark over 100) and enter these 4 major subjects over 100 separately in step 3.
- 6. Curriculum Vitae.
- 7. A copy of the Emirates ID card or a letter pledging to provide it.
**Kindly note the Emirates ID will require the visa to be ready.
If an applicant is selected for internship training, a valid visa for at least a year is required before the applicant can start the internship program. This has to be arranged by the candidate and ready before the program's starting date.
The training will be conducted in the hospitals the DHA has accredited.

About Medical Internship:
Registration for the one-year Medical/Dental Internship training at the DHA is from 23/04/2023 to 23/05/2023.
Dubai Health Authority offers a One Year Dental Internship for all dental graduates across the United Arab Emirates and other institutions once a year. The training takes place for 12 months across seven dental specialty units: Oral surgery, Pediatric, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, General Dentistry, Endodontics and Periodontics.
It enables recently graduated dentists to gain expertise in all facets of dental practice. Enhance clinical and professional communication, critical-thinking, and time management abilities.
The Program aims for training Interns to achieve:

- 1. Attested Degree certificate. The certificate has to be attested from the Ministry of Higher Education and the Embassy of UAE where he/she studied (If he/she left the country where studied he/she can reach to the UAE Embassy in his/her country) and from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in UAE.
- 2. Attested Transcript ( GPA out of 4 OR overall of 100 )
- a. GPA step 1
- b. If the GPA is not available skip step 1 and go to next step 2 where you can provide your overall score (over 100).
- 3. Passport copy for the applicant.
- 4. Emirates ID and valid visa.
- 5. Curriculum Vitae.
- 6. A fee of 230/- Dhs. for processing the application. (ONLY applications that are paid will be reviewed by the committee)
- 7. Get the reference number for your record
